Artist's Description

DescriptionLorraine's Venadito Beach, one mile south of Refugio State Beach,
This is painted as an enlargement of an 9x12 original done in 2010. In the last ten years higher surf levels and tides and rough storm surf has beaten the Rock into about one third or less of this size you see.
It was easily spotted from 101, and now it is easy to miss it.
When I was a young boy I would fish for calicos and kelp fish here with my grandfather off of the bluffs which are quite close to the water at high tide.. the Rock was joined to the main bluff and made it very difficult to walk further South unless it was low tide.

Jeff grew up in Santa Barbara California and learned to body surf from his lifeguard father when he was four years old. He shared a balsawood surfboard with a friend when he was 13 and payed for, bought, and rode his first fiberglass board at the age of 15. Jeff has a special feeling for the ocean and surfing...
