Artist's Description

Venadito means small deer in Spanish. Venadito Creek, a winter creek, empties into the ocean about one mile south of Refugio Beach State Park. The rock protrusion has been known by surfers as Lorraine's Rock and has many varied stories as to who Lorraine was and/or what she was doing on this beach. The rock has been beaten severely by raging surf and high tides and has been slowly eroded away over the years. In the 1960s it was attached to the cliff and had a cavelike slanted opening that went thru to the next beach, all long gone now. The beach is used by surfers when the west swells bring in some good lefts..........
