Artist's Description
Ledbetter Point is the first point to the West of the Santa Barbara breakwater and harbor. It is a favorite walking beach and many locals began their surfing careers in the usually smaller waves the wrap the point. I actually learned to surf here myself as I was lucky enough to live on the cliff behind where I stood to paint this piece. A lot has changed around Ledbetter, a road cut into the cliff, a park, parking lots for city college, an every changing skyline on the frontage houses on Shoreline facing the park. But the Point remains the same as always with erosion continuing to work away at the cliffs. Its still one of the landmarks of our beautiful city.
